There are definitely shades of green (environmentally speaking!)  in everyone’s house but where do you sit on this scale.  Read through our top tips to help reduce the carbon footprint of your home and you may be able to help the environment as well as your pocket.

Previous years have not been easy on the housing market so we are looking forward to some changes in 2010.  Lots of factors will be affecting the local market some good and some not so good.  Halifax latest house price index has again increased, although we are still a long way off the height of the market.  At Percy Williams we would like a stable market which has a consistent but small increase in line with wages and inflation.  This makes houses affordable and sales consistent, and allows the industry to plan ahead with some confidence.   Unfortunately the boom and bust cycle is well and truly entrenched in our economic system; housing is a primary cost and inevitably is seen as a primary economic lever.

We were delighted the carbon trust film crew visited last week, the CD due early next year will be highlighting the UK's specially selected environmentally friendly developments, with Fairglen eco homes featuring. 

Sales are slow as lenders are simply unable to ‘turn round’ applications before stamp duty returns for properties above £125,000 later this month.

We are always trying to find novel ways to be enviromentally friendly and this one definitely works well.  An eco font, it works by having lots of little holes in it, which reduces the ink usage.  This claims to save 20% of ink when printing, and doesn’t look bad as a font either – give it a go:
