Eco Towns

We have watched with interest the recent announcements from the Government concerning the Eco-towns that are to be developed.  Four sites have now been ear-marked: Rackheath in Norfolk; north west Bicester in Oxfordshire; Whitehill Bordon in East Hants and more local to us the China Clay Community near St Austell in Cornwall.

Whilst we applaud the governments stance on eco developments it is questionable if it has been fully thought through.

Is there sufficient work in the area to really support this number of new houses?  Who is going to be building these properties - will it be local businesses that will gain from this investment into the community or will it be contractors from outside of the area?

Would it not be more beneficial to our community to empower Local Authorities to provide incentives to developers to build all new developments sympathetic to the enviroment.  These would be on a much smaller scale but be on an ongoing basis and providing development that fit into or adjacent with our local communities.

We would love to hear your thoughts on these new developments.
