During the early stages of the construction works at the ‘Redruth Urban Village’ as it was then titled we spent time considering how best the finished development might be managed and maintained as the quite special living environment that had been designed. With the design team we had visited other developments which were to influence the design principles, notably Poundbury in Dorset, had met the Master Planners behind the concept and also had the opportunity to chat over the thinking behind that development with Prince Charles during a reception he hosted for us at Highgrove House.
It became our firm conviction during that time that a well-founded Residents’ Association would be an important factor in the ongoing future of the environment at Gweal Pawl. A Valuable ForumThis has been an extremely valuable forum; an organisation to be reckoned with when it comes to matters which might adversely affect those who live on the development, and ever vigilant for ways in which the scheme’s own environment can be improved. With the time rapidly approaching when the Management Company will be vested with the remaining land and management issues on the scheme, we feel that these will be in excellent hands, and are looking to see if a formula by which the large open spaces can be held within the resident’s own control as well. |
