One of the nicknames for Columbus that I hadn’t told you yet in a previous article is Cowtown. That kind of surprised me, even though it is a midwestern city. What a unique nickname among the others, like The Discovery City and Arch City. Anyway, Cowtown might live up to its name after you discover all the great burger joints and steakhouses in Columbus OH. Let’s see if any of them make this list of the top restaurants in the Indie Art Capital.
The first restaurant is a steakhouse indeed. J Gilbert’s Wood-Fired Steaks & Seafood makes for a great stop. There are some great steakhouses out there, but you don’t always get to enjoy a wood-fired steak. This restaurant located on East Campus View Boulevard is definite must try if you’re in the mood for a steak when visiting Columbus. By its name, you can tell that you can attach the surf to surf and turf, too.
This next pick is a little different, a French restaurant known as The Refectory Restaurant & Bistro. Located off of Bethel Road, The Refectory Restaurant & Bistro offers what is called a prix fixed menu and is a fine dining establishment. The place is said to feature a romantic ambiance and is one of a kind. To boot, the restaurant is housed in a building that was constructed in 1852.
Lola & Guiseppe’s Trattoria is a great stop for authentic Italian cuisine. Hey, that sounds romantic, too. In fact, while the French cuisine sounds unique, I would rather have Italian food if it were me. Located on Granville Street, Lola & Guiseppe’s Trattoria is a family run restaurant. It is also a smaller restaurant, so expect it to be really busy when you arrive.
I talked about Columbus being Cowtown, so it’s time to mention another popular steakhouse. Hyde Park Prime Steakhouse is the pick, and its location is North High Street. Order up a NY Strip, fresh seafood, lobster rolls, a shrimp cocktail and more. As you can see, this is another steakhouse that focuses on the surf and turf favorites.
Columbus is known for places that serve up steak and delicious burgers. It kind of reminds me of Texas. The city is also known, however, for serving up all kinds of different cuisines. By now, you’re starting to get an idea of what all Columbus OH has to offer in terms of restaurants.
