One of the many techniques used to make the Fairglen development as sustainable as possible is the use of Rainwater Harvesting in all of its properties.
The "Aquaprof" Rainwater Harvesting system in place has been developed and supplied by DAB, and provides a supply of filtered rainwater to the toilets, washing machines, and outside taps of each property. Rainwater is not used for drinking water of other requirements, for obvious reasons. The system consists of water being ducted and filtered into a 600 liter underground tank clse to each property, and filtered again on its way indoors to an "Active Switch" pump within the building. The pump has to raise the water pressure to mains level, and also allows the mains water to supply the system should there not be enough in the rainwater tank. By using rainwater harvesting we are able to make a dramatic reduction in the amount of water required by each property,
