As a natural part of the energy efficient design of the Fairglen Eco-homes we have incorporated solar voltaic panels into every dwelling. As you would expect these are required by the Low Carbon buildings trust, and of course it makes perfect sense to harness Cornwall's sunnier-than-average weather conditions to create green energy for your home. Our provider of choice is "Plug Into The Sun" - supplier of Solar and related technologies in Cornwall and the West Country. We selected them for Fairglen as not only were we looking for a supplier of the very latest in Solar Voltaic technology, but also because their enthusiasm for the project was unimpeachable. A high quality local supplier with a fantastic product.
The Solar Panels we are using at Frirglen produce around 1.2-1.3 kw (kilo watts) per hour. It is estimated that the solar voltaic panels will contribute about one third of the electricity requirements for each property, meaning that we expect them to repay their cost to the owners within 1.5 - 2 years due to the energy savings they will provide. These savings are being closely monitored by the Low Carbon Buildings Trust.
